EHEST TO HOLD CONFERENCE IN ESTORIL |
Helitech is delighted to announce that the EHEST (European Helicopter Safety Team) has decided to hold its annual helicopter safety conference in Estoril, Portugal, the day before Helitech 2008 opens its doors to visitors.
The EHEST is the helicopter component of the ESSI (European Strategic Safety Initiative www.easa.europa.eu/essi), and the European component of the IHST (International Helicopter Safety Team www.ihst.org), a government industry effort to reduce the helicopter accident rate – both civil accidents and noncombat military mishaps - by 80 percent within 10 years. The IHST is led by representatives of the American Helicopter Society International, Helicopter Association International, the Federal Aviation Administration, Transport Canada, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the major helicopter airframe, engine and systems designers. During 2007 the EHEST has been focusing on how to determine and implement an effective method for analysing helicopter accidents across Europe; the idea is that results of the analysis will be compatible with the work of IHST’s Joint Helicopter Safety Analysis Team so that eventually results can be aggregated at a worldwide level.
